AMARHAMBA United caused the shock of the season in the Safa-NMB SAB League when they beat log-leaders NMU Madibaz 1-0.

United, who are just one place away from the bottom of the log, failed to repeat their heroics on Sunday and were thrashed 4-0 by neighbours Highland Spurs.

All six of the top teams dropped points, while the bottom three picked up a point at least.

In the second shock of the weekend, Morning Stars, who trailed Madibaz on goal difference, lost 3-1 to PE Sundowns – this after Sundowns had been beaten 2-1 by Young Ideas.

Stars recovered on Sunday to beat Fairview Rovers 1-0 to become outright log leaders.

On Saturday, Rovers thrashed Young Killers 5-1.

Hearts, who went into the weekend trailing Stars and Madibaz by one point, were the biggest losers.

They lost 2-1 to Camper United and 2-0 to Motherwell Academy, who had been thrashed 6-2 by Ikamva Movers the previous day.

Tailenders FC Winners went through the weekend unbeaten, beating Mabayibone Strikers 2-1 to record their first win of the season and drawing 2-2 with Ikamva Movers.

Despite the four points, they remain at the bottom of the log.

It was an excellent weekend for Roaring Tigers, who beat Major Chiefs and Mabayibone Strikers, both 2-0.

Despatch Pioneers, one of the form teams in the league over the past fortnight, lost 4-2 to Golden Aces and fought back from 2-0 down at the break to draw 2-2 with Camper United.

Aces continued their move away from the relegation zone with a 1-1 draw against Young Ideas.
