Greeff looks to claim both Fairview features

- By RACING EDITOR

TRAINER Alan Greeff looks to claim both feature races – the East Cape Guineas (Listed) and the East Cape Spring Cup (Listed) at Fairview tomorrow.

Both races have prize money of R150 000 and in the East Cape Sprint over 1 200m saddles Juan two Three who looks to be the banker of the day.

This five-year-old son of Var is an eight-time winner from 16 starts and with stable-elect Greg Cheyne in the saddle a ninth victory for owners Messrs CG and LF Scribante looks on the cards.

Juan Two Three is drawn nine out of 11 runners on the straight and that should also boost his winning chances. In his last start he led over 1 200m, but was caught late by Cape Rebel.

Le Grand Rouge, from the Yvette Bremner yard, also has the form to finish in the money. He is a three-time winner from 11 outings. Teague Gould is in the saddle for owner Mr FH McGrath.

Omega Onslaught and Brutal Force are also by no means out of it. Omega Onslaught ran fourth in his last start, but won five on the trot in his previous outings.

Brutal Force was disappointing in his Fairview debut last month, but is capable of a much better performance.

Juan Two Three is selected to lead Le Grand Rouge, Omega Onslaught and Brutal Force home.

In the Guineas over 1 600m, What A Player is quoted at 10-1, but has the form to win. This Greefftrained daughter of What A Winter has only one win to her credit, but looks dangerous as she came very close in all three her last starts.

What A Player finished 0.75 lengths behind Luna Child in het last start, but flew up late in her penultimate race finishing just 0.10 lengths behind Cloud Atlas.

Callan Murray takes the ride for the first time and could upstage the more fancied horses.

Greeff is strongly represented in this race with four horses. Queen Forever, could start as favourite with Greg Cheyne up. She is a three-time winner from six starts and could be the one to beat.

Aldo Domeyer rides Kimberley Star and she too is in with a massive chance.

The daughter of Ideal World is a two-time winner from nine outings and should also contest the winning cheque.

Greeff’s main danger could come from Gavin Smith’s Paper Town, who won twice in nine starts and ran three seconds, a third and a fourth.

Muzi Yeni will ride him for the fourth time in a row.

In his three previous starts Yeni showed great form on the son of Bezrin.

In the final analysis the vote goes to What A Player to beat Queen Forever, Paper Town and Kimberley Star. Sacred Oration and Sabbatical could also come into the reckoning for the Quartet.

The first race is off at 12:45 with a Workriders Maiden Plate.
