ANOTHER bumper entry is expected for the Sunridge Village Family Run/Walk on Saturday.

Now in its 12th year, the event, with its novelty races, is one of the most sought-after in the metro for both regular athletes and families, attracting fields of more than 2 000.

Organisers are hoping to break the 2 500 barrier this year.

Entries are at sports shops in the metro and close at 5pm tomorrow. The race is organised by the Port Elizabeth Amateur Athletic Club and Sunridge Village Shopping Centre.

“The race attracts top runners from across the province,” club president Les Barnes said.

“It is so encouraging to see the hundreds of primary school runners and family participation.

“The school with the most bulk entries in the 5km race will earn themselves a R1 000 prize.”

Sunridge Village Shopping Centre manager Suzanne Fincham said: “Although the race is an official EPA Participating Road Running League event, it also caters for the whole family with distances of both 5km and 10km.

“There is also a prize for the business/company with the most bulk entries and fun category prizes include first family home, parent and pram, dad and dog.”
