Mixed results for Pearson
THE Pearson netball team produced a fine performance to defeat Hudson Park 38-24 in their clash in East London on Saturday.
The first quarter was keenly contested and at the mini-break Pearson had established a slender one-goal lead.
From there on, however, Pearson’s slick inter-play as a unit led to the team producing near faultless netball for a comfortable, albeit well-contested, victory.
An excellent shooting performance by Demi de Jager, matched by an equally adept defensive display by Siya Dingiswayo, saw them share the player of the match accolade. THE Pearson boys’ hockey team fought back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Hudson Park 4-2 in their clash on Saturday.
The visitors battled to find their feet in the first half and Hudson led 2-1 at the break.
However, in what turned out to be a game of two halves, relentless pressure by Pearson paid off.
The girls had a tight contest after Hudson scored first.
Dedication and strength, coupled with a never-say-die attitude, slowly shifted the balance of power to Pearson and they recovered to win 3-2.
HOCKEY RUGBY
PEARSON experienced a mixed bag of results, winning four and losing five matches.
The junior teams had the upper hand and were mainly responsible for recording the wins.
The first team had a tough encounter and after they took an early 3-0 lead, they were unable to add to this score until much later in the match.
Handling and defensive errors, in the first half especially, allowed Hudson to capitalise on line-breaks and counter attacks, which took them to a 19-point lead.
A better second-half performance by Pearson saw them claw their way back into the match, but it was not enough in the end as Hudson won 40-25.
