CHARL B (“Against God’s will”, June 7) and S C (“Same-sex marriages”, June 8), your interpretation of God’s will make us understand why Christopher Hitchens said, “God is not great and religion poisons everything”. If we lived by Hitchens’s revision of the 10 Commandments the world would be a better place!

Why are you obsessed with homosexuality? Why not rather explain why churches are packed, yet children are starving? Refugees are left to drown? How often do you condemn tax evasion, adultery, gluttony or drunkenness? Gossip? People who violate traffic laws (not just taxis)? Cruelty to animals?

The obsession with celebrity culture, being materialistic, overspending and debt? Telling lies? Paying low wages? Things that harm? And refrain from discriminating against people on the grounds of colour, creed, gender, age or sexual orientation.
