Development sides join independents at festival
WOODRIDGE Prep will be hosting an Independent Schools U13 Rugby Festival from Friday to Monday.
Ten independent schools will be joined by two Port Elizabeth development teams from the Township Junior Rugby Academy and Charles Duna Primary School to take part in the festival.
The independent schools are St Stithians, The Ridge, WHPS, St John’s, St Peter’s, St David’s, St Andrew’s, Kingswood, Glenwood House and Woodridge.
Each team will play three games, starting at 11am and continuing into the afternoon.
The festival brings together a group of like-minded schools, focusing on the development of rugby at primary school level.
Festivals like this give children an opportunity to develop their rugby skills, make friends and enjoy everything that a festival brings with it.
There is no trophy for a winning team or best player awards.
The emphasis will be placed on the boys playing running rugby and with freedom to express their skills and showcase their talents.
Besides the rugby there will be lots to keep families busy, including a playground for younger children, portable DStv screens and a food court.
