‘Madame’ and ‘Music’ mix it

- Dispatch Racing Editor

MARCH Music and Madame Speaker are set for an interesting duel in the Listed Champion Juvenile Cup over 1 400m at Fairview tomorrow.

March Music, who will have Lyle Hewitson in the saddle for the Yvette Bremner yard, scored a runaway 10-length victory last time when she demolished her opposition over 1 300m on the Polytrack.

She now returns to the turf, on which she ran two good seconds prior to that first victory.

The Bold Silvano filly, owned by Messrs Greg Bortz, Braam van Heerden, FH McGrath and MC Wright, has to overcome the poorest No 13 draw but has the ability to do so.

Jockey Greg Cheyne takes over from Teaque Gould on the Alan Greeff-trained Madame Speaker and has the advantage of a No 3 draw.

Madame Speaker is a three-time winner from six outings and defeated March Music by 0,75 lengths in her last outing.

Cheyne rides her for the first time and it will be interesting to see if she can maintain her superiority over her rival.

If both these runners fail to produce on the day, it becomes a wide-open affair with any of the others capable of edging it.

Alfeo, also from the Greeff stable, has won three of his five starts and must be given a chance with Aldo Domeyer up. He defeated Madame Speaker by 1,25 lengths in his last race, when he drew away easily.

Owners Messrs CG and LF Scribante will be hoping to increase their bank balance with another classy performance but, unfortunately, Alfeo is also badly drawn in gate No 12.

Greeff has another runner deserving of respect in Falcon Rock.

The son of Seventh Rock has had two outings thus far, winning his last start easily by 2,50 lengths. Here, Gould takes over from Cheyne.

Sharon Kotzen’s Finley Hill is winless after four starts but has three good seconds to his record.

He jumps from pole position and will have Karl Zechner up for the first time, suggesting improvement can be expected.

Say No More, to be ridden by Jarryd Penny for trainer Grant Paddock, is also creeping closer to a second victory.

He finished third behind National Park last time and could finish in the money again.

Others to consider include Cape Leopard, Ex Nihlo and National Park.

Eight races are on the card, with the first one off at 1235.
