New Cosatu president makes us proud
Let me salute comrade Zingiswa Losi as the first female and young, dynamic and intelligent president of Cosatu.
You have made us very proud in Port Elizabeth and, moreover, in New Brighton and in our Old Apostolic Church as you were born into and baptised in the Old Apostolic Church in New Brighton, with your brothers and sisters still in our church.
I have been following your political career as a comrade and a friend.
I have seen you and your family bury your late mother with dignity and respect.
I can tell you that your mother is seeing your achievements spiritually and she is watching you taking bold steps in your career.
I would like to salute you. You made history in our church (City of David in Red Location) as we never had any dignitaries attending our church, but minister Lindiwe Sisulu was among the ministers who mourned and attended the funeral of your late mother.
I salute you for lifting and putting our church on the map through your interaction and involvement with the democratic movement.
The whole nation is behind you, including all the workers in this country.
There is no doubt in my mind that you will take over from where your comrade, Sdumo Dlamini, left off.
You are oozing with confidence and you have also done well for yourself.
We love you in Port Elizabeth and we also love you in our church.
Whatever you are doing, please take note that you have our blessings and do not forget your father (Tata Losi), who is always praying for you to be successful in life and be what you are as you are very humble and down-to-earth.
We will meet you again once you visit your home (New Brighton).
With your election as new Cosatu president, I can foresee a good relationship with the president of the country, and also unity with the alliance and the masses.
Cosatu needs to go back to basics, fight for the rights of workers in the workplace and also get the mandate from its constituency.
Cosatu will grow from strength to strength again if we listen to our workers and also go back to basics.
We need to work hand in hand with the government, and also to fight poverty and unemployment, including retrenchments which are killing our economy.
These are a few of the challenges that you need to stand up to and showcase your abilities.
Let us also have a common goal to grow this economy and also create jobs for the youth, reduce poverty and strive for equality for all.
