SUMMERSTRA­ND BOOK SALE

The PE Clothing Guild is holding a fundraisin­g book sale on Saturday from 9am in the forecourt of the Summerstra­nd Village shopping centre in Eighth Avenue, Summerstra­nd. A NIGHT AT THE OPERA

The Port Elizabeth Gilbert & Sullivan Society is hosting A Night at the Opera at the Savoy Theatre in Adcockvale, with Liske Hemingway as director. Shows are on Friday and Saturday October 5 and 6 at 7.30pm, and at 2pm on October 6. Tickets for evening performanc­es are R100, with group discounts available. Bookings are at Computicke­t.

WOODWORK EXHIBITION

Woodworker and artist Nico Swart’s exhibition Dialogue with Wood is open until Saturday at his studio, Barenesta, at 22 Dobson Street. Workshop hours are 9am to 6pm on weekdays and 9am to 1pm on Saturday. The exhibition features exotic as well as indigenous woods such as sneezewood and wild olive. COMMON AND CLASS COMEDY

The Centrestag­e comedy Common and Class, featuring Gino Fabbri and Ian Von Memerty, is at 7.30pm on Thursday and Friday at Old Grey in Glendinnin­gvale.
