MESSED AROUND BY TELKOM

Telkom about two weeks ago phoned to say technicians would be coming to install a new telephone system. On that Saturday at 12 a parcel was delivered, and I was told technicians would come to install and explain it all. On Wednesday November 7 the landline was cut off and I received a SMS from Telkom to apologise as a sim card was not enclosed, but they would let me have it. In the meantime it has cut off the landline. I live in a retirement village and other elderly residents are in the same predicament. I would like to know who is supervising this whole operation?

It is badly organised and not well planned. What is our country coming to?

CONGRATULATIONS ON PLAY

Congrats to the principal, Mr Jansen, staff and pupils of De Vos Malan Primary School on staging their Christmas play. The cast was fantastic. A special compliment to the well-spoken masters of ceremonies. I heard they are grade 7 pupils. Looking forward to next year. Parents should be proud and appreciate the extra work done by the principal and staff. SUPPORTER

TAKE OUR COMMUNITY BACK

Helenvale residents, let’s take our community back. As with the rest of SA, there are too many mind-blowing incidents. SAPS, help us here or bring in the army to mow these thugs down. Go in, do home-to-home searches and retrieve all unlicensed firearms, and lock up thugs for good. Bring back the death penalty if necessary. No more being nice. Too many lives are being lost. HANG HEAD IN SHAME!

“Animal activist sees furniture hauled off” (November 3): shame on you, Paul Fouche, treating Patsy Wagner the way you have when clearly you have had no dealings with her. Hang your head in shame! DENISE

REPLIES TO READERS’ COMMENTS

“Guy Fawkes night” (November 7): Steyn and Nico F, Guy Fawkes should be every night, not with fireworks though. It is so that I can relax with my family without having to listen to your irritating mutt yap yap the whole night.

BLUEWATER BAY Abdoelaziez Madatt (“Enough of this incompetence”, November 8), I have been trying to get a road repaired for about five months and after getting the DA involved I finally received an e-mail from public works to say it had run out of supplies so no work would be done until further notice. I find this unacceptable!

We don’t choose ignorance, Naaz (“Replies to readers’ comments”, November 9). We are born that way and some of us never learn to read. You should try it some time and stop making a fool of yourself. WRITER

BLOEM CELTIC EYES BAY BASE

Why not let Bloem Celtic play in PE? Chippa United play most big games in EL anyway. Surely it would help to sustain our stadium and also grow the sport in the metro if they are allowed to relocate. Then rename them PE Celtic. I can’t see why we can’t have two PSL teams in PE.

TRUE BLUE Millions are already being wasted on Chippa United. It’s about time millions are invested in true blue amateur soccer in our metro. FROTTIE

CONCERNS REGARDING THE HERALD

Absolute rubbish. Can’t even read the newspaper on Friday morning. Can’t believe that as a company you can allow the paper to be sold to the public in this state. Sign of the times where no one gives a s***.

UNHAPPY READER Please replace the ugly page 2 “shipping” picture of the faded rainbow and manganese-polluted bushes, preferably with bright and educational pics of the wonderful and varied ships that visit our ports, for instance the picture of Europa 2 on page 3 of Wednesday’s The Herald.

DUIF I notice in Wednesday’s Your Views that two letters published are from KZN residents. Has our beloved The Herald spread its wing to take on the rubbish KZN newspapers or is the online platform that’s well known, or is The Herald allowing a foreign invasion to our pages? Laugh out loud. GORDON UPTON

CAN SABC SAVE COSTS?

Can the newspaper itemise all the radio and TV stations under the SABC to see if they cannot be amalgamated to save costs?

DO TAXPAYERS FUND LEGAL BILLS?

I guess we taxpayers are funding the legal fees being incurred by ex-SARS commissioner Tom Moyane. Otherwise he would not be running to the highest court in the land with such impunity.

COLLABORATE WITH LOAN SHARKS

A police vehicle was [allegedly] used in an attempt to assault an innocent civilian. There’s collaboration between loan sharks and SAPS. SAPS is renowned for [allegedly] establishing fictitious cases to render protection to loan sharks.

How credible is SAPS? I am extending a challenge to SAPS to prosecute those suspects as well as criminals in its own ranks. ANOTHER READER
