Brazen heist at liquor shop in Walmer Park

Three men and three women stole bottles of alcohol from the Pick n Pay Liquor Store in the Walmer Park Shopping Centre after threatening the security guard with a firearm, at about 1.45pm on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Captain Johan Rheeder said the three men stood outside the store while the women went inside.

“One suspect lifted his top and showed a firearm to the security guard. The three women inside then placed several bottles of alcohol in their bags and [left] the store.”

The security guard then raised the alarm. “The suspects spilt up, with some climbing into taxis parked near the centre.”

A case of business robbery was opened.
