Tough test for rising Stars

After thrashing Bush Bucks 4-1 on Wednesday, PE Stars have climbed to fourth place on the ABC Motsepe League soccer log.

The win comes after Stars whipped Birmingham City 5-0 in their previous fixture.

They are now only four points behind log-leaders Tornado, who are on 23 points.

The PE side face another title contender in Mthatha Bucks on Saturday at the Mthatha Stadium (1pm).

It will not be an easy fixture for Stars as they will be up against a team who have not lost a match in seven games.

The Mthatha side produce their best at home and they will be motivated to move up the log, as well as maintaining their good run in the league.

Bucks are only two points behind Tornado.

However, Stars are capable of rising to the occasion and the team’s confidence will be high after back-to-back victories.

Meanwhile, Peace Makers will want to get back to their winning ways when they play The Guys on Saturday at the Wolfson Stadium (1pm).

Makers’ four-match unbeaten run was put to an end by Yakha United when they lost 3-1 to the Mthatha side. They are ninth on the log with 15 points from 11 matches.

Sibanye play Swartkops Valley United Brothers in a Bay derby at Motherwell’s NU2 Stadium, while Uitenhage side Future Tigers host Butterworth at the Rosedale Stadium on Friday (6pm).
