CRIMINAL POSTER BOY

Lo and behold, your poster boy Andile Lungisa’s mug once more graces The Herald’s pages (February 7.) What is your fascination with this convicted criminal?

WASTE OF OXYGEN

Sizwe Jika, you are SO lucky I’m not Kelly Bain’s mother – the sea wouldn’t have been able to wash you clean if I had seen you in court. Can someone please explain what this waste of oxygen is still doing here? Why is HE being fed by taxpayers money when there are millions starving? Bring back the death penalty – or leave Bheki Cele alone with him in a room! MML ý “Think of death sentence” – agreed. But first weed out the corrupt judiciary from the top. BOB

REPLICA, TOY GUNS

In a society ravished by violent crime, it is incomprehensible that the legislature has not yet outlawed the sale and possession of anything that resembles a real firearm. How many heinous crimes have been committed with toy or replica firearms? For heaven’s sake, wake up!

CRIME FIGHTER

STRONGEST TEAMS

Why don’t South Africa play our strongest teams when we play overseas teams? I’m referring to the T20 games. FRANK

FIX THE ESCALATOR

The escalator between Chapel Street and Govan Mbeki is not working for sometime now. Who is responsible for it working?

WHERE ARE THE COPS?

There have been a number of letters and chirps about dangerous driving and traffic offences in the metro. I personally witness running of red lights, noisy and unroadworthy cars and motorbikes racing in the Western suburbs on a daily basis. Nothing is being done about it as it still carries on. I think it is a lie that there are around 60 odd traffic cops in PE. On occasions you may see a camera placed on the verge somewhere that is unattended. Where are these cops or are they just “ghosts” on the payroll? What a disgrace our traffic department is in PE.

TONY, WESTERING ý In reply to Fed Up’s chirp, that petrol station in Algoa Park offers free coffee to our men and women in uniform.

NO PORT PERMISSION

Following your e-mail from Oppiwater questioning why we do not have scheduled departures out of PE, the reason we do not have scheduled cruise departures from PE is because we only have maritime permission to use three ports in SA that would be able to accommodate the MSC Musica, and unfortunately PE isn’t one of them.

COPS IN CENTRAL

Central Investor, catch a wake up. I have recently travelled through Central and Richmond Hill and noted metro police in the vicinity day and night. As for John Best, you should be aware of the fact that since end September 2018 he has not been MMC for safety and security. Talk to the current politicians.

GERALD

POORLY PRESENTED

Well, wasn’t that a poorly conceived and presented article by Malaika wa Azania? I hope we don’t see too much of her in our Herald. GT

COME ON SABC

Why is SABC continually shoeing repeat programmes? The licence cost remains yet we are presented with very poor programming. No money to obtain new series from other countries? This service stinks and for many of us less affluent elderly, it is our only form of entertainment. Come on SABC, maintain what was once enjoyable entertainment. Couch potatoes are becoming scarcer by the day.

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE

Springbok 7s: can somebody tell the coach, Jimmy Powell, conversions are so important. It will relieve the pressure. Tries scored on the left of the posts – Justin Geduld, he is right-footed. On the right it’s Branco – he is leftfooted. So easy, it’s not rocket science. NICO F

HEADLINE NEWS?

I always thought that the front page of a newspaper was for headline news. Your Friday February 1 issue front page had half the page for a liquor store advert, a quarter page for a guy trying to field a cricket ball. Great news, your paper is going backwards.

FOOT OFF THE PEDAL

To the person who drives at full speed down Luneville Road, Lorraine, before you cause an accident to yourself or others – take your foot off the pedal.

READER, LORRAINE

FINED FOR DEALING

Four fined for drug dealing. And where do you think the money came from to pay the fines and legal fees? Well, that sent out the well-worn statement to would be criminals that the law will no longer tolerate ... oh well, you know the rest! Thanks for nothing.

FLY THE FLAG

As a new chirper, I would like to know why we went to all the trouble of erecting the tallest flagpole with the biggest flag in the country if we are not going to let it fly daily (weather permitting)? STEPHANIE

STILL LEAKING

Water leak, I believe it’s two, in Municipality Street. Reported two weeks ago, still leaking. What a joke.
