INVESTORS, BRING OWN ELECTRICITY ý Viva, congratulations! What a fantastic opportunity for investors in SA. So many minerals, but please bring your own electricity. Who is kidding who?

MIKE SHUTE

● Now Eskom needs expert help after they got rid of all their expert staff because of so-called transformation strategy. More than 20,000 workers knowing nothing who Eskom are too scared to retrench because the unions have spoken.

CITIZEN OF DARK SA

● To the municipality. Why are some areas within the city not having loadshedding?

PETER

● Eskom stands as a massive monument to 25 years of corrupt government by the ANC. Voters need to wake up and vote them out.

DAVEY CROCKETT

● Ramaphosa “shocked” by load-shedding. Mr Ramaphosa, you need electricity to be shocked.

LEON

● Load-shedding is to force us to accept the 15% increase in tariff. ANC tactic. CYNIC

WE PAY YOUR SALARY The letter from CGM Moller about shop staff is so true. I experience it daily at a four-lettered supermarket as well. The staff act as if they are doing you a huge favour while serving you while chatting non-stop. Where do they think the money comes from that pays their salaries?

TOMCAT, WALMER

● Agree 100% with CGM Moller’s letter, “Train shop staff in basic courtesies”. This happens in so many supermarkets and shops. Staff shout across the floor, have loud conversations with each other. Staff also stand around talking or looking at their cellphones. They hardly greet customers. MJ

MIGHT COLLAPSE GRID I must agree with HJ Frahm about supplying school children with tablets (especially the headbanging part). If they are supplied, within days half will have been stolen. Most of the rest would be broken. What is left will be used for video games. Teaching tool? This idea can only come from the ANC, whose every idea is pie in the sky and ends in failure. Imagine all the children plugging in their tablets to be charged. It will probably collapse the Eskom power grid.

TOLL ROAD RIP-OFF The toll at Bloukrans of R50 is a rip-off considering it was R13 in 2010. Sanral conveniently hide behind amended regulations that they are not obliged to provide an alternative route, hence the Nature’s Valley option had never been repaired. “Gatvol” is an understatement.

MAYOR, SEE TRAFFIC Mayor Bobani and the councillor for safety and security, please drive in an unmarked vehicle from 6.15 in the morning in Cape Road and Govan Mbeki Ave, and see for yourself what is happening in the traffic. All laws are broken by taxis. Please, my favourite newspaper, be brave and do a report.

WHERE’S THE TIDE? No tide table and they blame the weather bureau. But what is the editor doing about it?

LEO

● No tide table for a long time? Another “oops”?

RAINFALL FIGURES How much rain did PE receive on Monday? Nothing in Tuesday’s paper.

UPLIFTING STORY What a thoroughly uplifting story. Johann and Lynne of Southwell, near Port Alfred. That they devote their lives and savings says a huge amount for this selfless couple. May they prosper and may businesses and groups continue to support their animal charity, and others. Of the utmost importance. Animals depend on us.

NO TARRED ROAD We are staying at NU2 Motherwell since 1985, but where we stay there is still no tarred road. But we are voting since 1994. What have we done? Are we not South Africans?

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE In response to Nico F (February 11). It needs some rocket science to at least know the coach is Neil Powell not Jimmy, and Geduld and Branco are both left-footed.

SUNDAY OF SPORT

What a Sunday of sport ... I was watching rugby at Despatch rugby stadium. There were two things that impressed me – the support of so-called coloured people. And the standard of club rugby has gone up. Advice to EP Rugby, do away with abuse of alcohol at rugby games. Advice to mayor and sports committee, let us broaden the concept, let us strive to include those sports that are not listed in disadvantaged schools. To fix SABC and the local radio station, Umhlobo Wenene. They have no balance and creativity – they are narrow in sports.

NURTURING TALENT Sinethemba Qeshile, what a talented young prospect. I so wish he stays humble and to learn from Makhaya Ntini. To Mr Rabada, his time will come to be a Protea. Thank you Warriors administrators for nurturing talent.

CUT ENTRY FEE Take a lesson from Mona museum in Hobart, Australia: free for all local inhabitants. R350 is steep. Where did Gardiner make his money? Perhaps give a bit back to NMB residents by dropping the entry fee.
