Defending champions Madibaz 1 had little trouble in claiming maximum points in their NMB Premier League double-header at the weekend.

On Saturday, they returned the favour by drilling Tavcor Commercial Old Grey by eight wickets in a catch-up fixture. This after Old Grey had beaten them by 14 runs two weeks ago.

Sean Callghan took three wickets as the students reduced Old Grey to 138 and then Josh van Heerden struck an unbeaten 74 to see his team home with more than 20 overs to spare.

On Sunday, they played PECC and they were also too strong in that game, this time winning by nine wickets with David Masterson making 58 not out.

Avile Thiso and Henco Vorstman had taken three wickets apiece in PECC’s meagre total of 101.

PECC also lost to United Brothers on Saturday, with Solo Nqweni making 85 for the home team while Nathaniel Howard took four wickets in Mechatronic Uitenhage’s seven-wicket triumph over Motherwell.

After beating Old Grey last weekend, debutants Bloemendal added another scalp to their growing list by beating SA Home Loans Union by 40 runs.
