Pearson dominate against Woodridge

The Pearson cricket teams followed up their good results against Westering last week with clinical performanc­es against Woodridge.

In the U14A match, Pearson’s Cormey van der Watt continued his good run of form with a well-played 69 to help his team to a 150-run victory.

Janco van der Walt was instrument­al in the U15A win when he hit 120 off only 91 balls to steer his team to a massive 225-run result.

Jayden Groenwald recorded figures of 5/12 in seven overs for the U15s.

Du Preez Stander was superb for the second XI as he returned figures of 5/18 in 10 overs, while Blake Roberts hit 60 not out off 34 balls in a convincing 10-wicket victory.

In the first team match at Pearson, Woodridge won the toss and elected to bat first.

Home team opening bowler Alex Draai (2/15 in 10 overs), set the tone for the Pearson attack, who restricted their opponents to 151 in 48 overs.

Micaiah Coltman took 2/18 in six overs and Josh Honey claimed 2/38 in his 10 overs.

The Pearson batsmen passed the target in the 37th over with five wickets in hand.

Robert Barnes scored 38 off 68 balls, while Kyle Beckford finished the match in style with 32 not out off 27 balls.
