Diabetes South Africa wellness groups meet in Port Elizabeth as follows this week: Dr Jeff Govender will speak at the Malabar Wellness Group on Tuesday March 12 at 7.15pm on “Diabetes – Looking Forward”, at the Malabar community centre minor hall. ART IN BIRD ST

The Visual Arts Department in the School of Music, Art and Design at NMU is opening We Are Present, exhibition showcasing staff and senior students, at the Bird Street art gallery on Tuesday March 12 at 6 for 6.30pm. Prof Rose Boswell will deliver the opening address and the exhibition will be open until March 22. Gallery hours are 9am to 3pm on weekdays.

The Port Elizabeth Shakespear­ean Festival presents As You Like It at the Mannville Open Air Theatre in St George’s Park nightly at 7.30pm until March 16 (excluding Sundays and dependent on weather). Tickets are R65 for adults, and R40 for school pupils and block bookings.

QUILT SHOW

The Dias Quilters’ Quild is hosting the 10th SAQG Travelling Exhibition of Quilts at the ArtEC Gallery, 36 Bird Street, until March 16. Gallery hours are Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm. The exhibition consists of quilts selected from entries in “We Create” in 2017. Several dance studios are presenting Dance Spectacula­r 2 at the Savoy Theatre on Thursday March 14 at 7pm.
