Madibaz Football climb to top of log

- Mogan Segadavan

In a weekend of surprises, Madibaz Football became the new log leaders in the SafaNMB SAB League.

The students beat tailenders Sibanye Colts 1-0.

PE Sundowns, who started the weekend at the top of the log, suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Motherwell Academy on Saturday and were then held to a 1-1 draw by Stinging Bees.

Motherwell, who are just two places away from the bottom of the log, proved their win over Sundowns was no fluke when they thrashed Major Chiefs 5-1 on Sunday.

In another shock result, Chiefs thrashed Roaring Tigers 4-1.

Camper United beat Amarhamba United 1-0.

Golden Aces, who are next on goal difference, play School of Excellence on Friday.

To complete the day of upsets, School of Excellence beat Golden Aces 2-0.

Aces are in the top four while Excellence are just outside the relegation zone. United Brothers struggled against Young Bucks in a Peefa Marina Salt Premier League match on Saturday to retain their place at the top of the log.

Despite trailing the log leaders by 26 points, Bucks were unlucky not to come away with a share of the points, going down 3-2

Second-placed Young Aces dropped to five points behind Brothers after going down 1-0 to Hill Side who are now just a point behind Aces.

Young Teenagers were the biggest winners on the day, thrashing Soweto Stars 10-0.
