PROGRESS STALLED EVERYWHERE

Schools standing half-built. IPTS a virtual dead duck. We need to get our flag flying upside down on the Campanile, and fast!

WORK TOGETHER FOR CHANGE

Seemingly, all these respective political coalitions don’t seem to be functioning properly at all. A political rerun is the only option to us as residents of this Bay municipality. It is further concluded that these political parties responsible for the purse of this metro don’t show any prudent measure of being very judicious in managing our finances. Firstly, when will they appoint executive directors of the various departments, ie metro manager, chief financial officer and others? A civic body remains the only solution that can unite the people of this metro and spend our purse properly and equitably. People of the Bay, rise up and be counted, lead and make this place a better one again. Bobby

MORE MUNICIPAL WASTE

Well done to the municipality for what I hope is a cleanup of our gutters here in Lorraine! BUT ... I counted 142 green plastic bags in Centenary Road filled with no more than two scoops of a spade of whatever. Surely MORE can be put into a bag? I understand they can’t be filled too much otherwise they would be too heavy and break, but come on, even I could pick one of those bags up with one hand! That’s 142 green plastic bags just ending up in our landfill. Besides that, what a waste of money from an already cash-strapped municipality. MLL

MYSTERIOUS ‘MIGGIE’ OUTBREAK

Can somebody please explain where all these “miggies” are coming from? Try eating your breakfast out on the stoep – I’m getting protein with my fibre! I don’t like spraying because the geckoes and wagtails are having a feast! They are everywhere! What are they?

GARBAGE ON TV PAINFUL

Is it not possible to reserve just one TV channel for people with an IQ higher than 70? What is presented now is mindnumbing garbage and suitable only for prisons to inflict torture on murderers and embezzlers. Did (Hlaudi) Motsoeneng and Faith (Muthambi) choose this idiotic rubbish? H Frahm

FOCUS ON EDUCATION LACKING

The absolute disaster regarding school upkeep and repairs is a sorry tale but shows, no, proves the ANC is not the least bit focused on uplifting people through education. Disgusting. Jim G

NO MENTION OF EC, DIEDERICKS

As this month is celebrated as the month when about 20,000 women of all races marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to tell JG Strydom to do away with passes and laws that oppress women, why is the name of Umama Lillian Diedericks not mentioned as if she was not part of the march? Only those in Johannesburg are mentioned. The Eastern Cape was also represented. Kibi NC, Graaff-Reinet

HOLD SOMEONE TO ACCOUNT

What is the point in reporting on the education department’s maladministration and the state of unfinished school projects? Nobody is going to be held accountable – the officials will draw salaries and the kids will still be taught under trees. Who cares!

FILTHY CITY A SHAME

If I was the mayor of Port Elizabeth, I would cover my head and face with a Shoprite plastic bag when I’m in public. PE has never been so filthy, sies. Resident
