Nelson, Schoeman clinch Hayterdale victories

Anriette Schoeman and Andre Nelson were in fine form, respectively winning the women’s and men’s sections of the Hayterdale MTB Classic at the weekend.

The 60km event started in perfect weather conditions on Saturday at Hayterdale and the big challenge for the riders was the Zuurberg Pass within the first 5km of the race.

Both Nelson and Schoeman made use of the pass to get away from the opposition.

Schoeman managed to get away from Hanna Oelofsen and Rhiannon Farrell.

Grant Daly and Clark Nell stayed with Nelson up the pass but were left behind midway through the race.

Both Nelson and Schoeman then managed to stay ahead of the respective chasing packs to clinch impressive victories.
