Hernandez: no pressure to replace Ibrahimovic
Mexican international Javier Hernandez says he is not feeling pressure to fill the outsized boots of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his first season with the Los Angeles Galaxy, despite the Swede’s 52 goals in 56 Major League Soccer matches.
“Not really, because he didn’t win a championship.” Hernandez said.
“If we win a championship, that’s going to change everything.”
Hernandez is Mexico’s all-time leading scorer, but said that was not the only reason Galaxy GM Dennis te Kloese and coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto had tabbed him after Ibrahimovic opted for a return to AC Milan. —
