STICK TO SCIENCE TO TREAT VIRUS

Tuesday’s Economics & Reality column by Ismail Lagardien on the Covid-19 virus is spot on. I want to congratulate you on an insightful article. SA is not immune to the virus and science is the only way to combat it, not ignorance or smoke and mirrors. Your experience with scientific treatment is a practical illustration of how science trumps prayer and traditional customs when dealing with a situation of this magnitude. I salute your courage, sir.

KINGS CONTINUE TO DISAPPOINT

Another weekend, another Kings loss. If the Kings were a racehorse we know what would have happened by now.

Replacing the Kings coach will not improve anything. We need to get quality players.

ROAD MARKINGS NEED REPAINTING

Please paint the pedestrian crossings. A schoolchild is going to be killed. Motorists are unable to see the crossings and are not stopping. In fact, paint all the road markings.

Why doesn’t the president cut the number of MPs he has on the wage bill? Deputy minister of everything. They earn millions.

SORT OUT SIGNBOARD

What would it take to get the signboard repaired or should we wait for the next gale force wind to blow it away?

UNPLEASANT DRIVETHROUGH EXPERIENCE

East Cape Recycling parked at the entrance to the drive-through at KFC William Moffett at 2pm on Tuesday. Huge, smelly load, with driver clipping his nails at the entrance. Appetite gone!

CORONAVIRUS CONCERN

Re “Teams dispatched to PE airport, ports to monitor coronavirus” (March 3), it is mentioned that if there were any signs of possible infection the person, in question would be quarantined. What about the other passengers? If one is infected, most probably others are already infected by that carrier, but it may not be detectable at that stage.

NORTHERN AREAS MISERY

The municipality misery continues: All the suburbs in the northern areas are an utter disgrace, West End especially. Dumping, potholes that never get fixed, street leakages, street lights totally off. No wonder they burn tyres to be heard. Please see to the massive pothole we have to drive through every day, plus leakages and rubbish opposite Helenvale. It’s really becoming a thirdworld country.

Totally fed up

HEALING AT HOSPITALS

Pastors, healers and evangelists — seeing that many people are sick and dying every day, wouldn’t it be great if the abovementioned people can go to hospitals and heal them? By doing that they would be making a huge contribution to the country and not only enriching themselves.

Just a thought

MORE ROAD RUTS

Re the road rut in Sixth Avenue, Walmer: Daryn, I totally agree. But you clearly haven’t seen the one in Pickering Street going from Langenhoven Drive towards The Bridge. My poor rims and tyres. Totally unacceptable.
