MOST punters will agree that when it comes to picking winners, Hollywoodbets Scottsville is not a happy hunting ground.

The good news is that for today’s meeting, where 10 races are scheduled, there’s one runner with the word banker written all over him: Twist Of Fate.

It is trainer Adam Marcus’ only runner on the day, and with Anton Marcus in the saddle, it’s no surprise that bookmakers are hesitant to offer anything close to even money on this Grade 2-winner.

Although it will be his first run since finishing fourth in the Sun Met, this Master Of My Fate colt is expected to cruise to victory in Race 7, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1 600m.

The fact that Born To Perform is second on the bookmakers’ boards at 7-1 shows what is expected.

Skidoo is another runner with solid winning credentials. This Paul Reeves-trained gelding is aiming for a fourth consecutive victory in Race 8, a MR 91 Handicap over 1 000m.

He is absolutely distance suited, with 20 runs over 1 000m resulting in 10 topthree finishes.

“He’s in a very good place at the moment, we think,” Reeves said yesterday, adding that the only slight worry is that he might be needing the run.

“We have been slightly disappointed with some of our horses needing their first run, but I don’t think we can get any better at home.

“I think he’s definitely a horse worth a big shout.”

Marcus takes the ride after Liam Tarentaal steered this What A Winter gelding to victory in his last two outings.

“I’ve gone for the best jockey in the country,” Reeves confirmed, adding that the 2.5kg claim came in handy when it was needed.

“If he doesn’t need it, he’ll be a massive runner,” said Reeves.

Race 9, a MR 78 Handicap over 1 200m and the last leg of the Pick 6, is riddled with runners who can take the honours.

One who catches the eye is Letaba. His three runs over 1 200m have all earned him a place on the podium and despite carrying top weight, looks a serious contender.

Trainer Shane Humby is, however, not bubbling with optimism, saying that despite this Oratorio gelding not wintering well, his work is good.

With that said, punters are advised to play as wide as their budgets allow in this race. Speed Of Night, Constantine, Kingston Rock, Running Freely and Quatro Five Six can all feature. PHUMELELA
