WITS SALE END OF ERA

Wandile Mtana’s letter about the sale of Wits to TTM — and in Limpopo — hits a nerve. I grew up in Johannesburg and from under-8 to U16 played for PG Rangers in Mayfair. Every season through our age groups we played against Wits, and enjoyed playing at their home ground of Marks Park and sometimes at the main soccer stadium where the current PSL team plays. Fabulous memories! I fear though that Wits’s long existence will be lost in name, culture and history once they are renamed and move to Limpopo. I would have thought the current owners would have been more respectful and sell to a consortium that would carry on the historical value of the club.
