Returning to the Eastern Province ranks for the 2020/2021 campaign, left-arm spinner Luvuyo Adam will be looking forward to using his experience at franchise level to bolster the provincial side.

Adam, 27, returns to the province he spent three seasons with before linking up with the VKB Knights on a season-long contract and hopes to use his central franchise experience to good effect in the Bay this coming season.

A former age-group representative for EP, Adam is not only excited to be joining up with some of his former teammates but also to start working with the new faces.

“EP have played some very good cricket over the last few seasons and it speaks to the hard work being done behind the scenes.

“I cannot wait to get started,” Adam, who made his senior provincial debut for EP in 2016/2017 season, said.

Adam made two appearances in the Knights squad in the CSA T20 Challenge last year and he said the experience of playing alongside some of the best franchise cricketers helped him to grow and improve his own game.

Playing alongside the likes of Pite van Biljon, Ryan

McLaren as well as working under the guidance of head coach Alan Kruger and later Allan Donald, the left-arm orthodox spinner believes that has given him the chance to improve as a cricketer.

“For me, the experience I would gain from working alongside those players was a major deciding factor for me.

“I felt that having been spotted while at EP they obviously also saw something in me.

“So, I wanted to repay their faith by giving my best whenever I got the opportunity,” Adam said.

Adam is well acquainted with most of the EP squad and recognises the talent within its ranks.

“There is a really good mix of talents within the squad.

“We have some talented young players who bring with them an air of confidence, but more so, it signals that they are confident in their ability to buy into the brand of cricket we want to play in the province,” the former Douglas Mbopa pupil and later Kingswood College matric pupil said.

Asked about his ambitions with the side in terms of achievements, Adam said his first focus was to enjoy his cricket, and possibly unlock more opportunities on the franchise scene and even higher up the cricketing ladder.
