Asking pensioners to pay R800 is outrageous, MultiChoice

- Feizal Nicholas, Port Elizabeth

MultiChoice must and should extend the offer of reduced packages to its senior citizens.

Some of them have been customers for decades, loyally supporting the brand.

It should offer these citizens some sort of discount package because most who are over the age of 60 are pensioners, with only a few still lucky to be earning a regular income.

Some of these seniors have been loyal from back in the day when we still called the company M-Net.

Sport is the topic I want to raise as I see no point in offering a reduced package if two of our most loved or watched sports, rugby and cricket, are excluded.

It is sad that a company of its magnitude doesn’t even consider the possibility of assisting the senior citizens.

Is it greed or is it just a case of we call the shots and to hell with the rest?

I’m sure many countries overseas offer their loyal over-60 customers a premium package at a reasonable price for them to enjoy watching their favourite sports — not for free but a pensioners’ price taking into consideration that MultiChoice monopolises most of the sport channels.

It’s not fair and inconsiderate to say the least.

All we are asking for is to make these sports available on a package for our beloved old age pensioners, who worked most of their lives and contributed towards the upkeep of this country.

R800 for a pensioner is a king’s ransom and its outrageous to expect them to pay this kind of money to watch rugby and cricket.

Please, you need to come to the party. It’s long overdue.
