So the end of April has come and gone. Nobody in the ANC has stood aside. Are we going to have disciplinary meetings? Then court cases? Then appeals? Then Constitutional Court? Years later, perhaps a solution. Stand aside sounds like an ANC dance to be performed on the stage.

Ace and others harged with alleged corruption, the ANC wants to throw them a lifeline again. The party has lost all credibility by not keeping to the promise about stepping aside. In the private sector, you would have been just immediately suspended. The ANC of yesteryear would have taken immediate action, as they never tolerated misconduct by members. ANC take action, you are going to lose votes irrespective.

NO SUMMER

Well spoken Greg B. Mr Piyose seems to see the summer arriving when he only sees one swallow flying past ...

CURB POPULATION GROWTH

Donald Goff (May 3), you are so right about the increase in the population. What makes it worse is the child incentive the government is granting. In my time, you went to jail for not paying child support. Let’s get rid of the bad apples, and bring the glorious movement back to what it was. The ANC should listen to what the other parties are saying, and not totally reject their input.

NOT WITH RORY

In my Chirp about the drain cover being repaired in College Drive some years ago, a full stop was left out by me and the letter read that councillor Rory Riordan had been in the car with me. That was incorrect.

CRICKET PIPE DREAM

SA cricket 2027 World Cup bid. Who are CSA trying to kid? They cannot run their own basic affairs or successfully run provincial matches without some sort of dissent between structures. Cricket should be run by professionals within the game, not politicians. Do they really believe they can host a successful World Cup? At best a pipe dream of the worst kind.

INDIA WORRIES

What Covid-19 safety measures is the government implementing at our airports regarding travellers from India who are entering our country using other airlines? Are they put into quarantine or are they just walking past passport control bringing the new variant of Covid with them?

GET SERIOUS ABOUT VACCINES

I hope that our health minister has taken note of the horrific scenes coming out of India. We are all connected. I’m urging the minister of health to take the vaccine rollout seriously and get moving with it. We won’t be able to handle those horrific scenes if that happens here. Please, please get the vaccine rollout moving to protect your citizens. We are far behind.

LIONHEARTED EFFORT

Heartwarming and uplifting article about the relocation of lions from Ukraine to an Eastern Cape sanctuary. What a fantastic effort by all involved.

DUMP COLUMNIST

I am appalled you continue to give space to the unpleasant views of “Malaika wa Azania . After a distasteful outburst turned”her bile-laden attention to the following the death of Prince Philip, she Mother City. Please spike these unseemly diatribes, which are unworthy of your generally even-handed articles.

NOT JUST COVID

As for Gordon Upton’s response to my comments about staff at tills, I’ve been doing grocery shopping for more than 35 years. So Covid-19 must not come into this. Supermarkets just cut costs to make more profit and, quite frankly, don’t care about customers waiting in long queues. Olly Leclercq
