Marshall and Millard hold Aces

WITH nine races today at both Greyville and Happy Valley in Hong Kong, punters will have to be on the ball to get their bets in on time as both these meetings are scheduled to start between noon and 1pm.

Vaughan Marshall saddles the best bet of the day at Greyville in Race 5, where racing is on the Polytrack, while South Africa’s Tony Millard looks to have a winner in the lucky last in Hong Kong.

Marshall’s Captain Of Stealth contests a MR99 Handicap over 1400m and comes into the race in top form, having recorded three consecutive top-three finishes, including a win last time out.

Despite this being his first run on the synthetic surface, he was priced up as the 15-10 favourite yesterday. Jumping from gate 1 is an added bonus as the draw plays a major role over this distance on the Greyville Polytrack.

In Hong Kong, where today’s meeting takes place at Happy Valley, the Millardtrained Silver Fig, who is on a hat-trick, pairs with jockey Antoine Hamelin and the duo will set off from gate two.

“I prefer him on the dirt, but the horse is in good form so let’s see what he can do,” Hamelin told the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

“I’m a little bit confident because I’ve ridden him for a long time and I’m more than happy to ride him again.” Hamelin said.

The gelding was a twotime winner on the turf prior to his four wins on the dirt and he returns to the city circuit for the first time since December 2019.

“The race is not overly strong but it’s also not easy so let’s see what he can do on the turf – it’s difficult to know but I think the horse is in good form, the morale is good, so everything looks good,” Hamelin said.

Punters must remember that they can download the tote sheet of today’s Happy Valley meeting for free at tabonline.co.za or ask for it in your local tote.

All the races are broadcast live on Tellytrack on channel 249 on DStv as well as on tellytrack.com.
