Help a child in need

Do your bit for a worthy cause by hosting a dinner party and stand a chance of winning a R500 SPAR shopping voucher in the Dinner for Miles competition.

The Dinner for Miles competition, a collaboration between The Herald and the Wings & Wishes charity organisation, is aimed at raising much-needed funds to help the organisation transport critically and chronically ill children across the country to receive life-saving treatment.

The initiative calls on anyone interested to host anything from a formal dinner to a traditional South African braai or themed evening. Applications to be part of the initiative are now open and can be accessed on the Wings & Wishes website.

Applicants are required to detail how they will be entertaining friends and family, and each entry stands a chance of being named as one of 12 hosts who will win a R500 shopping voucher to buy ingredients for the meal.

Guests are required to pay R200 each to attend the dinner and all funds will be donated to Wings & Wishes. Applications close on September 30 and the lucky 12 will be notified immediately thereafter.

The Herald will be publishing photos taken at the dinners, recipes of the hosts and how much was raised at each event.

Wings & Wishes transports three children and an accompanying adult a day all year round throughout SA.

“Since inception in 2006 we have funded more than 19,000 trips,” Wings & Wishes manager Inge Human said.

“Take this journey with us, helping us to save a child, one trip at a time. Turning their wish to live a normal, healthy life into reality.”
