Troon looking to be ‘relevant’

-

Lawrence Troon, in my view a flip-flopper of note, asks how the water crisis in Nelson Mandela Bay could have happened (“Indecisive leadership forced metro to brink of disaster,” Your Views, May 9).

Troon laments that both the DA and ANC governed during the lead-up to the crisis, and that not one official has been held accountable.

Troon has a history of naming and attempting to shame people on a public platform, and coming off second best.

He called the former mayor all sorts of names and accused Athol Trollip of heinous crimes, only to have to backtrack and being forced by a court of law to apologise.

Troon is now calling for the senior officials responsible for water and sanitation to be criminally charged for bringing the metro to the point of the water disaster.

He specifically names water and sanitation director Barry Martin as being culpable, stating — quite ironically if one considers Troon’s lack of success — that the situation is going from bad to worse.

In my humble opinion it seems that Troon wants to be relevant in some way, as the metro’s water crisis is current, he comes out of total obscurity to spew septic sewage to be relevant.

He should instead try to be of service to those who voted for him as councillor and bring a solution to the water issues at hand.

Troon, in my view, is a perfect example of a useless councillor failing those who had voted for him.
