JUSTIN Snaith-trained Pomp And Power, winner of the Grade 1 Cape Derby, heads up the field for the R1-million Daily News 2000 (Grade 1) over 2 000m for three-year-olds at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday. He will be ridden by Richard Fourie.

The Vercingetorix gelding had an excellent warm-up run when a 0.80-length third behind Zapatillas of a wide draw in the WSB KZN Guineas over 1 600m at Greyville. He will also have advantage of jumping from No 1 draw.

Mike de Kock has two runners in Safe Passage and Aragosta while Joe Soma will run Grade 1 WSB SA Classic winner Red Saxon.

With the withdrawal of Triple Tiara champion Rain In Holland, the Grade 1 Woolavington 2000 for three-year-old fillies is there for the taking but Sean Tarry will be represented by Marigold Hotel who, along with Paul Petertrained Sprinkles, is the joint best-handicapped runner.

Barend Botes and Yolande Vosloo have Light Of The Moon in the field. The daughter of Futura won the Listed Ormond Ferraris Oaks Trial over 2 000m and followed that up with a 0.75-length second behind Rain In Holland in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks over 2 450m.

She proved those runs were no fluke by easily winning a middle Stakes over 2 400m at the Vaal, beating the boys in the process.

Muzi Yeni rode her in all three of those races and he will be back on board come Saturday.

There is also a Pick 6 carryover of R1-million going into this meeting with the pool likely to reach R5 million.
