ONUS ON MABUYANE
The electorate will think what a bright idea (“Pressure mounts on Mabuyane amid claims of academic fraud,” May 16). That is if they vote. Geraldine
CELEBRATE REPUBLIC DAY
I encourage all South Africans to celebrate Republic Day on May 31. This a momentous day as in 1961 the SA government set us free from the British monarchy. The ANC inherited a republic and therefore did not have to take up “the struggle” against our former colonial masters. RAG
GQEBERHA HAS NOT IMPROVED
I read that in the early 1800s some explorers arrived in Port Elizabeth and wrote in their journal “what a wretched little town”. Amazing, 200 years later it is still the same, except now, if you look around, you could add the word filthy!

IPTS CASE
The list of suspected miscreants in the case is obviously taken from the
current court papers (“How state connected the dots in IPTS case”, May 17). Had the journalist had any deep and meaningful knowledge of the case, they would have realised the glaring omission from the list of our late mayor, Mongameli Bobani. Victor Meldrew
CLINIC IN SAD STATE
We have used the Jarman hall clinic for all these years. I was so sad to see how things have gone from bad to worse at the clinic. We, as patients, sit among empty oxygen containers and boxes as there is no storeroom in sight. Manager Ryan Davids’ office look like a dumping site for used papers. I felt very depressed and sad while I sat there, because there is no space for nurses and patients. Please come and visit our beloved clinic to see for yourself.
