WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE AT THIS YEAR’S 1000 PAWS EVENT?

-

The steering committee of the popular Hill’s 1000 Paws Walk for SPCAs is delighted to confirm that a date has been set for this year’s event, now in its 12th year, after it sadly could not take place in 2020 because of the lockdown: Sunday 20 June 2021, at Hilton College.

This much-needed annual fundraiser for the three Midlands SPCAs (Pietermaritzburg, uMngeni-Howick and Mooi River & District), enables people and families to share good times outdoors in a safe/secure environment, often with their family dog(s).

They can do the 2km or 4km walks, the former around the Hilton College playing fields, which form the hub of the event’s activities, and the latter on trails through the college’s scenic grounds.

Or they may choose to rather watch the arena events and activities/competitions plus enjoy refreshments at the SPCA tea tent and Rotary catering stall.

This year, the committee is inviting the public to come up with suggestions and ideas of what they would like to see or take part in on the day.

Does anyone have an amazing juggling act, for example, or some other performance that will attract even greater public support? Naturally all in good taste and in line with the policies and standards of the NSPCA!

If you feel you can contribute to making 2021 a bumper 1000 Paws Walk, please email the event PRO Gaynor Lawson at glawson@global.co.za or call the chairman Geoff Calmeyer on 072 347 9904. Help us make this year’s 1000 Paws what you’d like it to be!
