ROTARY DONATES FOOD PARCELS TO ANGELS’ CARE

- ESTELLE SINKINS

Generous donations from British resident, Dr Brian Price, and another anonymous donor, have allowed the Rotary Club of Hilton and Howick to help feed those in need.

Members of the club recently handed over mielie meal, cabbage and other food stuffs to Jack Haskins from Angels’ Care, who then distributed the food parcels to those living in the Shiyabazali informal settlement.

Colin Thornton, the Rotary president, said they had been given 570 British pounds by Price, a sum which equates to around R10 350.

“Dr Price is a retired dentist, who practised in Howick and Pietermaritzburg in the 1970s, before turning to practice in the United Kingdom,” he added. “He knew about the work of Angels’ Care and specified that the money be given to him.”

The money was transferred to the local Rotary club from the Knighton Rotary Club in Knighton, Wales.

Both Dr Price and his wife, Christine, are Past Presidents of the Knighton Rotary Club. Thornton said the R10 000 donation from the anonymous donor would be used to help fund the Angels’ Care feeding HILTON AREA. scheme.
