SUCCESSFUL START TO MONTHLY SCHOOL SHOE AND SANITARY DRIVE

- JADE LE ROUX

With the help of the Hilton community, over 70 learners from Sibongumbomvu Combined High School in Cedara, started their school year with a new pair of school shoes.

In December, Hilton businesswoman Nolwazi Moepeng started a toiletries and school clothes drive for the underprivileged learners at the high school on Hilton’s doorstep. Moepeng expressed her gratitude to Hilton for their donations, and to the Hilton Quarry SuperSpar for giving her organisation, Reinvent Women SA, a collection basket for donations.

“Last week, we delivered school shoes, sanitary towels and toiletries to Sibongumbomvu Combined School. Reinvent Women SA are humbled by the support and we continue to collect monthly sanitary towels and toiletries and school clothes,” she said.

The organisation’s drive will continue every month and Moepeng continues to appeal to the community for their ongoing support.

“We are starting to collect for our winter drive, so if anyone has old tracksuits, or school jerseys, socks and shoes they are willing to donate, it would be appreciated. Our monthly drive continues to collect sanitary pads and toiletries too,” she added.

There is a collection basket for Reinvent Women SA at Hilton Spar where all donations of toiletries can be dropped. School clothes can be dropped off at Abbots Cove BnB, at 18 Cedara Road.

Reinvent Women SA, founded by Moepeng in 2016, strives to create a comfortable position for women irrespective of their background or ethnicity by providing learning platforms, mentoring and outreach programmes.
