UMhlanga’s new country club opens
A SNOW park, Jamie Oliver fine dining, a Hard Rock Cafe and the very exclusive Paul’s Pastry Shop.
These are just a few of the venues Oceans uMhlanga, the R3.8 billion mixed-use development, will offer.
This was confirmed by property mogul and chairman of the Oceans uMhlanga Development Company, Vivian Reddy at the opening of uMhlanga Country Club yesterday.
Reddy said that over 90 percent of the flats in the development had been snapped up.
The cutting-edge architecture has been likened to Dubai, while the brand names on offer will place the development firmly into the top three in the country alongside Sandton City in Gauteng and the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
Reddy, in partnership with Rob Alexander, has also been behind relocating the former uMhlanga Country Club at a cost of R20 million, after buying the club’s former premises and the old post office.
The new club is just off uMhlanga Ridge Boulevard and boasts tennis courts, bowling greens and a ski-boat club.
“The project was conceptualised and built within six months. The Oceans team pulled out all the stops to ensure we developed a facility that would surpass the tired clubhouse in the town centre.
“We are proud to present a new and modern meeting place, a recreational centre to enhance your lifestyle,” Reddy said. He said he hoped the younger generation would “increase its outdoor activity, removing them from the seduction of electronics and dispassionate engagements.”
Pat Shanks, chairman of uMhlanga Country Club, thanked the team, saying while it had been a long time in the pipeline, once Reddy got involved, the projec quickly became a reality.
