Singer throws gig to raise funds for LifeLine Durban

- STAFF REPORTER

COMMUNITY-spirited musician René Tshiakanyi will be hosting a one-off sundowner Hope Concert at Alliance Française de Durban on Thursday to raise funds for LifeLine Durban.

Tshiakanyi, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and moved to Durban in 2008, will perform at the fund-raiser alongside Durban singer, pianist and songwriter Chloe Clark, soprano and actress Camilla Rogers, jazz singer Thulile Zama, and percussionist Richard Ellis.

Tshiakanyi is a brand ambassador for LifeLine Durban and will perform a short set of original tunes.

Singing in French, English, Portuguese and Afrikaans, he describes his music and compositions as a mixture of classic pop, RnB, reggae and Zouk (originating from Guadeloupe and Martinique).

His sound is distinctive, and many of his songs are thoughtful and reflective – about love, emotion and passion in all its guises.

Clark, Rogers and Zama, will also perform some solo pieces of their own material and then combine for some duos and quartet vocal pieces, including Adele’s Make You Feel My Love and Tshiakanyi’s own A Beautiful Friend.

The Fusion café offers a light menu for the evening, with vegetarian options.

LifeLine Durban provides a professional and confidential service offered by well trained, disciplined lay counsellors, facilitators, trainers and social workers.

Tickets for the show are R100 a person.
