Call to animal lovers

- PUMLA MSOMI

AN ANIMAL rights advocacy organisation hopes to set up an animal shelter in Overport, but the team needs animal lovers to assist.

Animal RAID (Rescue, Action and Investigation Division) is the rescue unit of Pawfect, an animal rights advocacy organisation established in 2010.

The volunteer RAID team comprises trained law enforcement professionals with tactical combat and defence skills, as well as SWAT/military backgrounds.

Founder Jessica Singh said Pawfect was a registered NPO and had a cage-free, chainfree. approach, which complemented its pro-quality of life philosophy.

“Pawfect Nation’s sanctuary will be a dedicated lifelong rehabilitation sanctuary for the rescued animals and will cater to traumatised dog-fighting victims and abused street animal populations,” said Singh.

Co-director Vishnu Lall said they offered broken-spirited animals hope and a second chance.

“Members of RAID team are committed and dedicated volunteers who hope to establish this different animal sanctuary which will offer a muchneeded safe haven for animal victims. But it’s only through selfless public donations that this dream can and will be realised,” said Lall.

Lall said Pawfect would soon introduce free vaccinations for the animals, but thorough background checks of the owners would be done.

The free vaccinations would apply to elderly people who no longer work but foster pets, disabled individuals who aren’t working but foster pets, and unemployed individuals,.
