FEELING IN MY BONES: KLOPP’S MEN TO SLIP UP?

- SANELE TSHABALALA

HAPPY Valentinos to the heroes in chinos sipping cappuccinos.

To the rest, all the best as we chase the commitment test.

Right, let’s move onto matters of the heart. For a start, Super Rugby is in full flow now, and some unusual suspects are putting their hands up early on.

The Sunwolves play the Chiefs first up this weekend, in what should be a high paced game. Chiefs will be looking to continue their winning run after beating the mighty Crusaders a week ago.

Good old Warren Gats is back with a bang, and the Chiefs are cooking. Then it’s the Hurricanes versus the Sharks, which has the prospects of being the game of the weekend. The Sharks are coming in with great form, and the Canes have travelled quite a bit, with mixed results thus far.

Over in Australia, the Brumbies take on the Highlanders, with the New Zealanders looking for their opening win of the season.

In Jozi, the Lions play the Stormers in a north versus south derby on the Highveld. Along with the Sharks, the Stormers look like a great local prospect for a play-off position. Lastly it’s the Jaguares hosting the Reds.

The away teams are all in with a decent shout to come away with points this weekend. The Chiefs, Sharks, Brumbies, Stormers and Jaguares are my picks to all win. Heading over to the beautiful game of football, and into the EPL. It’s the continuation of round 26, which started last week, as they have given out a cheeky winter’s break to teams. There are five games for this round, to be played between this afternoon and Wednesday night.

Today, Southampton play Burnley and Norwich host the unbeaten Liverpool lads. Dare I say it, but I have a feeling in my bones Klopp’s troops may slip up. Surely, it has to happen at some point.

Unless you’re looking at an upset draw or win, rather look into goals on both ends in both matches. Tomorrow, it’s Aston Villa against Spurs and Arsenal versus Newcastle. Once again, an upset looks highly possible in either of these two games, as Arsenal and Spurs are just not as intimidating as they used to be. Monday night sees the biggest game of the lot, when Chelsea host Manchester United.

In our local shindig, there are a handful of games namhlanje, with three of the top five teams in action. The top two favourite teams to win the league, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, are both at home to the Uniteds – Chippa and Maritzburg respectively. Then Wits travel to play Baroka, and Highlands host Bloem Celtic.

We shouldn’t forget that KZN’s biggest game of the season is also on, as AmaZulu play Golden Arrows. For the first time in a long time, this game is one to look forward to, with both these teams playing some decent diski at the moment. Tomorrow Polokwane play Cape Town City, and Black Leopards host Orlando Pirates.

Last up, it’s the last hurrah for the Poms in Mzansi. The two-month tour of one pound beers, sunburns and sixes finally comes to an end. Last night? We are not sure what happened in the 031, but if Roy boy and Co squared up the T20 series tomorrow’s last shootout at Centurion should be a right royal treat.

It’s full circle from when it all started on December 26, and a lot has happened since then, believe me. Let’s hope for a great finish and some sort of win for the newly appointed Proteas family and friends.
