The deets: Stone House is rich in design inspiration; think a giant paper chandelier, wrought iron standing lamps by a local blacksmith, hand-made tiles with a hint of Moroccan heritage and a giant woven cane nest chair. Located a few minutes from the town, the villa boasts 5 bedrooms, Boulle court, pool, fireplace and more.
Taxes
THE South African Revenue Service (Sars) reminds provisional taxpayers that the filing season deadline is Monday, February 15. Sars Commissioner Edward Kieswetter says taxpayers are encouraged to use eFililng or the Sars MobiApp, a convenient and safe online method to transact with Sars. He says taxpayers who received auto-assessment notices last year but who have not yet either accepted the auto-assessments or edited and filed a return in response to the notice, should do so. Failure by provisional taxpayers and auto-assessment taxpayers to edit and file a return by Monday will result in administrative penalties being levied.
Crypto
THE Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) says it is receiving a large number of complaints from South African investors who have lost savings through investing in crypto-related investments that they did not understand, or in scams packaged as crypto investments promising unrealistic high returns. It says crypto-assets, or cryptocurrencies as they are commonly called, are digital representations of value that are not issued by a central bank. Crypto-related investments are not regulated by the FSCA or any other body in South Africa. As a result, if something goes wrong, you’re unlikely to get your money back and will have no recourse against anyone.
