Sit back and enjoy the Insider

THE irrevocable changes wrought by the advent of digital platforms aside, it is no secret that, like many other businesses, the media, too, has been severely impacted by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

With many industries still clawing their way back to profitability after lockdown restrictions were eased, advertising − the lifeblood of media businesses − is not a priority.

This has forced newspaper editors to take unpopular, but necessary, decisions to weather the storm, like reducing the number of pages printed and dropping certain features, to the annoyance of many readers.

My sincere thanks to those of you who have stuck with us through this period, and I am glad to announce that your patience is being rewarded this weekend with the launch of a brand-new product – Insider.

Insider is aimed at consolidating all existing supplements under a single umbrella of specialised content for Independent Media’s weekend titles.

It will feature a host of respected columnists, editors and contributors, along with other leading opinion formers and experts as thought leaders on a broad selection of topical matters.

As Insider editor Buhle Mbonambi says, we are excited about this opportunity to produce a thoughtful weekend newspaper supplement with its focus on personal finance, lifestyle, politics, fashion, trends, entertainment and property.

I invite readers and advertisers to sit back and enjoy classic print with its immersive experience from this weekend.
