CALLED OUT

JENSON Button warned Yuki Tsunoda to watch his words after the Japanese Formula One rookie publicly criticised the performance of his AlphaTauri car in Spanish Grand Prix qualifying last Saturday. The 20-year-old has acquired a reputation for swearing over the team radio, and at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya he questioned his car’s setup compared to that of team mate Pierre Gasly. “He’s got to control his anger a little bit, teams don’t like it when you talk out like that,” said Button, a former F1 champion. | IOL MOTORING

The team heading up the rejuvenation project is father-and-son duo Wynand Strydom Sr and Wynand Strydom Jr from Generation Old School Benoni. They are restorers of Beetles and Microbuses. CANCELLED

THE annual GTI weekend meet that we look forward to in May each year on Lake Wörthersee in Austria has been cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions. It’s usually the place where Volkswagen debuts a concept car or a new model, but as no one will be attending the event this year, the company has offered a sneak peek at what the new Polo GTI could look like when it goes on sale next year. The official world premiere of the new VW Polo GTI will take place at the end of June 2021. | IOL MOTORING
