Africa’s chances of attaining MDGs ‘are slim’


There was a “dark cloud” hanging over the possibilit­y of Africa attaining its Millennium Developmen­t Goals (MDG), Internatio­nal Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane said in Tokyo on Friday. “Studies are predicting that, given the current trends with less than five years towards 2015, Africa is unlikely to achieve every single one of the MDGs,” she said at a ministeria­l meeting to assess progress on the UN plan. – Sapa
