Lockheed to replace tokens
LOCKHEED Martin, the defence contractor that was the target of a cyber attack last month, said the breach was the result of data theft at security systems provider RSA in March.
“Our investigation into the attack on our system concluded that the RSA breach was a direct contributing factor,” Lockheed spokeswoman Jennifer Whitlow said.
As a remedial measure, “we will complete the replacement of 45 000 SecurID tokens for Lockheed Martin employees”, she said.
RSA is a unit of EMC and the maker of SecurID tokens, designed to allow employees to access their employers’ networks from remote locations. In March, the company reported a cyber theft that resulted in information being taken from its systems.
RSA has said it provided security systems for other defence contractors, including Raytheon. – Bloomberg
