All good things come to an end
ESKOM implemented power cuts last night, due to a loss of generation capacity. This is the first time the utility has imposed power cuts since August 8. It attributed the load shedding to increased electricity demand and a shortage of generation capacity due to power station units being on maintenance. Eskom said any unexpected changes on the constrained power system could lead to a change in the load shedding stage at short notice. The maintenance would be completed on Sunday and the supply was expected to be back on full power from Monday. “The power system will be tight, particularly over the weekday evening peak periods.” – Staff Reporter
