Czech spa charms guests with booze-filled baths

-

BEER and baths don’t normally go hand in hand but this spa has created the ultimate boozy experience – filling their baths with dark beer.

The baths at the Chodova Hotel in the Czech Republic have become the talk of legend as guests can quite literally bathe in beer – and it’s good for you too.

The beer allegedly opens up skin pores and purifies tired parts of the skin, providing vitamin B and crucial proteins and, of course, guests can enjoy a pint while they bathe.

“The baths are a real feature and we’re really proud of them,” Mojmír Prokes of Chodova Hotel said. “We recommend that guests stay in them for about 20 minutes and after that they’re invited to the relaxation area covered by a sheet and a fleece quilt.”

The dark beer is produced in a traditional way based on the original method of brewing Chodovar – with beer yeast, hops and a mixture of dehydrated crushed herbs.

It costs 660 Czech koruna (R373) for a 20-minute session soaking in the beer, followed by a 20-minute relaxation period with the sheep fleece blankets.

The idea came about 10 years ago and was inspired by an old tradition – at the end of their shift, the youngest apprentice would pour a jug of beer into Albi’s bowl – Albi being the dog on the hotel’s emblem. It was believed that the spirit of Albi bathed in the beer overnight and kept the taste fresh to bring good luck to the brewery. – DailyMail
