Intergalactic a force to be reckoned with

- RICHARD MCMILLAN

There is a couple of interesting young fillies competing on the turf at the Vaal today and if they run to what they have indicated they are capable of, they could be hard to beat.

First to take to the track is the daughter of Kahal Intergalactic from the Sean Tarry stable racing in the colours of Chris van Niekerk, bred at Summerhill Stud out of the Galileo mare Nojoom.

She has had three runs to date and gave notice that she could be a very useful individual when winning by just over five lengths over a mile on the Greyville poly in her penultimate race.

Last time out, also on the poly and drawn on the outside over 1 400m, she was hampered in the closing stages to finish just out of the placings.

That run is best ignored and if one looks back to her winning effort she definitely looks to have plenty of should run well today.

Her main opponent could be the fiveyearAntonius Pius mare Antonia Major that won well last time over 1 450m on the inside track at Turffontein.

A few runs back she finished two lengths third to Black Belvedere over the 1 400m at the Vaal with Gunther Wrogemann in the irons and he is back in the saddle again today.

The mare is drawn alongside Intergalactic and they could match strides in the closing stages.

Little Genie

The filly that looks very exciting, however, is the four-year-old daughter of Judpot from the Dominik Zaki stable, Little Genie.

She runs in the final leg of the exotics where she is up against the useful Var mare Easy Game from the Mike Azzie yard as her main danger.

Little Genie has raced four times winning each of her last two starts by an impressive 7.25 lengths.

The improvement from her first two races came with the fitting of blinkers which obviously kept her mind on the job and she led throughout in stunning fashion.

The impressive fact of that last run at Turffontein is that she stopped the clock in 56.67 secs which is just over a second slower than the course record.

When one considers that she was never under any pressure that was a special performance and it will be interesting to see how she goes today.

Easy Game is no slouch and back on the turf today she must be a serious player.

The forecast betting in Computaform makes it a two horse race between them with the two being marked up as 15-10 joint favourites.

Easy Game has won twice over the 1 000m trip for Mike Azzie and her penultimate run, over the short trip at Scottsville when 1.5 lengths second to Miss Varlicious, was an excellent performance.

Computaform betting rates Seattle Lady as the danger to the pair and she obviously has to be respected on her last effort but Captain's Diva could be a strong challenger for a shake of the stake.
