N Korea pushes ahead

SEOUL: North Korea said yesterday it was ready to launch satellites aboard long-range rockets to mark the 70th birthday of the Workers’ Party next month.

Scientists had been working on a new Earth observation satellite for weather forecasts, a space agency spokesman said. – AP
