Sharks Club XV off to flying start

- Jos Robson

THE Sharks Club XV got their 2015 Central Amateur Clubs Tournament in Kimberley off to a resounding start when they hammered Free State Rural XV 99-0 on Monday.

With barely six minutes on the clock, the opening try scored by scrumhalf Matt Allborough and converted by Zululand Rhinos flyhalf Jors Dannhauser started the rampage, which saw the KZN outfit run in 15 tries without reply.

They went into the break leading 40-0 with their firsthalf tries coming from Allborough, Ricoh Lategan, Bee Tshamala, Dumi Dladla (2) and Carl Marks and Dannhauser, who was in outstanding for as he controlled the game, converting five of the six tries.

In the second half the Sharks Club XV were imperious as they ran riot with some exceptional rugby.

They crossed they line for another nine touchdowns by Royal Mwale, Shane Makhombe (2), Carl Marks, Jose Rodrigues (2) who had come on for Dannhauser, Tokoloshe Buthelezi, Brandon Bailing and prop Matt Jones after a spectacular 60-metre run.

Spa Dube kicked the

balance.

After officially announcing at the capping ceremony last week that they were proud to be brand ambassadors to the Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage, the Sharks Clubs XV look to be the favourites to take the honours in Kimberley.

Certainly the Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage will be proud of their ambassadors’ performance.
