THEDurban leg of this year’s Good Food & Wine Show will include an exclusive breakfast with Rick Stein, to be held at The Oyster Box in Durban on Thursday, October 29, at 8.30am.

The cost is R595 a person and includes a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival, an exclusive goodie bag and the chance of winning a weekend for two at The Oyster Box. Seating is limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.

A selection of Stein’s cookery books, including From Venice to Istanbul, will also be on sale at the breakfast with the legendary chef and author on hand to personally autograph purchased copies.

The Oyster Box’s chef, Kevin Joseph, who is drawing up the menu in conjunction with Stein, promises a feast fit for a king and queen. “Guests are going to be surprised and delighted with what we have planned for the menu. But I promise they won’t be disappointed,” he said.

One of the dishes, Stein and Joseph have let slip, will be what the British chef calls “'The Turkish King of Breakfasts” which is eggs with tomato, red pepper and green chillies.

Joseph said: “I am excited about drawing inspiration from such an industry legend and am looking forward to hosting Rick Stein in my kitchen.”

Stein is an acclaimed chef, restaurateur, author and television presenter who has written more than 20 cookery books, an autobiography and made more than 30 television programmes. He has cooked for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, former French president Jacques Chirac, and former British prime ministers Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher.

Bookings for the Eastern Mediterranean-inspired breakfast – based on Stein’s television series and book, From Venice to Istanbul – can be made by phoning 031 514 5000 or e-mailing restaurants@oysterbox.co. za.
